Seldom does a staff person have an opportunity to learn firsthand, about an ASHI-endorsed program. Most programs are chosen with the specific needs of home inspectors in mind. But recently, I called on LegalShield and thought you might be interested in my experience.
I was sharing with a co-worker how I wished there was a way, short of suing, to bring to the attention of the management at our local hospital how an emergency had been mishandled. I had heard nothing after filling out the hospital’s satisfaction survey, and doubted that anything was being done to protect other patients from similar treatment.
She reminded me about LegalShield, ASHI’s prepaid legal service, and the positive experience she had when she used it to resolve a property damage claim. My concern was not about property, but I decided to give it a try. The LegalShield representative who took my call was interested and encouraging and arranged to have a lawyer from a local legal firm work with me. Not only was the lawyer responsive, the LegalShield representative regularly checked with me to be sure I was satisfied with the way things were progressing. So far, I have an acknowledgment that management is aware of what happened and will reply. I am no longer being ignored.
This endorsed program may not answer all the legal needs of a home inspector. As with all business decisions, each person must determine if the services provided justifiy the cost. Nevertheless, it might be worth checking it out. I can vouch for the quality of the customer service from personal experience.
